Common definitions of home
In its wider meaning, home is the place where one lives. When you look at it from outside, home might just be a place or a house, an apartment, a room. Most people tend to think of home as the place where they grew up, laughed, played, loved for the first time, a place where they spent their early years and have their childhood memories from. For others, home is where their new job or family is. For some, home seems hard to define, for several reasons.

My own experience
I grew up in a caring home but also a rather conservative society with lots of social stereotypes. At least, that’s what I’ve come to realize over time. At the age of 18, I moved for the first time. I can still remember how happy and excited I was feeling. I was always grateful for what I had in life, don’t take me wrong. However, I was not what you would call a typical extrovert, and that’s because there was always a part of me awaiting to be explored. At the time I didn’t know exactly what it was, but I was excited about finding out, exploring, discovering.
As time passed, I moved a couple of cities and another couple of countries. I had the opportunity to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds, study and work internationally and now I am back to my home country, building my own brand, The NP Studio. Then, Covid-19 hit the world, and everyone has been on quarantine for months, slowing down, taking a long break, rethinking, and reimagining our world.
What home truly feels like
I’ve come to realize something that I would like to share with our audience. Home is not just a place. Home is more than that. Home is a state, a mindset, a mood. Home is a space within which you can securely reach the full potential of being yourself.
And guess what. Nobody is perfect. Nobody is the same and they shouldn’t be. Because difference is beauty, it is magic. Authenticity has always been and will be priceless. When reaching that state where you make peace with yourself, it doesn’t matter where in the world you are or who with. You’ll always be feeling at HOME.
For me, every design project is a problem solving task about dressing people. I am talking real people, not labels or roles. At The NP Studio all items are designed with a 100% gender-neutral philosophy and are equally tailored to (proudly) apply to every-body.
What I am working on currently
At the moment, I am working on the concept development for our next collection. It will be closely related to the topic discussed in this article, home. Staying true to the values and ethos of the brand, the new collection will be genderless and made from high-quality sustainable materials that respect our planet, people and animals. Although I can’t share much now, the collection will be based on references from modern nomadism, a concept closely related to ideas like moving forward, growing and finding home in these unprecedented and rapidly changing times.
Stay healthy and own your story, because no one else will do it for you.
